Freshman Advising Review Sessions
Fall 2007

Students who have earned 24 credits or fewer are required to receive additional advising through the FREE on-line Freshman Advising Review course prior to registering for classes for the following semester. Topics will include:

  • GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
  • DECIDING ON & DECLARING A MAJOR/MINOR
  • REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
  • PLACEMENT TESTS AND WAIVERS
  • UNDERSTANDING THE CATALOG
  • UNDERSTANDING THE CLASS SCHEDULE BULLETIN
  • ACADEMIC RESOURCES ON CAMPUS
  • PROBATION/DISMISSAL POLICIES

In order to receive this additional advising, students will need to follow the steps below for the on-line sessions:

  2. Click ‘Check Browser’ link (upper right corner) to configure your browser

  3. Click ‘Eastern Michigan University’ link
  4. Click ‘Course List’ button
  5. Click ‘Academic Advising’ (Group Name)
  6. Click ‘Freshman Advising Review’ (Category Name)
  7. Click green arrow to expand ‘Academic Advising’
  8. Click ‘Register’ icon on far right side of course title
  9. Enter your my.emich ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’

  10. Click the ‘Register’ button
  11. Click ‘Go to myWebCT’ button
  12. Click ‘Academic Advising - Freshman Advising Review’ in Course List

Return to the online Freshman Advising Review:

  1. Enter webct.emich.edu in your browser
  2. Click ‘Eastern Michigan University’ link
  3. Click ‘Log In’ button
  4. Enter your my.emich ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’
  5. Click ‘Academic Advising - Freshman Advising Review’ in Course List

Note: Your online activity in Freshman Advising Review will be recorded in your permanent record and fulfill your mandatory obligation.

Limited in-person tutorial FAR sessions, held in the Halle Library Auditorium, are available during the following dates, days, and times in order to accommodate those students that are having difficulty navigating through the system. We will walk you through the FAR on-line format. After you attend, you will still need to complete the FREE FAR course on-line. If you are in a PASS block, an advisor will come into your UNIV class to give an in-person tutorial of the FAR. However, you will still need to complete the FREE FAR course on-line.
