First Year Student
Contracts
The PASS Program supports the use of first-year student contracts.
The signed contract grants permission for university officials
to communicate with each other and with the student's parents
about issues regarding the students. For example, to be able
to discuss a student's
financial or academic status. Without the student's signature
on such a contract, university officials (The
Academic Advising Center, Student
Business Services, The
Office of Financial Aid, The
Holman Learning Center's), personnel and professors
cannot share student information with parents as required
under
the Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This inaccessibility
to student information has been a source of frustration
for parents;
hence, the need for a legal document which permits the release.
The first-year student contract will be available
on
the day of Fast
Track. Please give your most serious consideration
to signing it.
