Academic Readmission
Students who have been dismissed once from Eastern
Michigan University (EMU) may apply
for readmission (a PDF format) after
they have been away from the University for at least two terms
of enrollment, one of which must be a fall or winter term. Readmission
involves submitting a written statement, summarizing what the
student has done to prepare for a successful return, together
with at least two letters of support from professional (non-family)
sources. In addition, an unofficial transcript for any course
work taken since attending EMU must be included, and the
grade point average for this work must be 2.0 or higher. When
students have prepared these materials, they may arrange a meeting
by contacting the Assistant Director of AAC at (734)487-1207
or
by e-mail.
Normally, students are given only two chances.
However, if a student has been away from the University for a
period of at least 10 years and has made substantial changes in
his or her life, a third opportunity may be granted.
