Business & Culture
in Mexico

Business & Culture in Mexico is a six-week program offered during the summer for undergraduate students interested in learning about Mexico’s business environment and language and culture. This program is designed for students to take Business courses in English with the option of also learning or improving their Spanish.
In the Business subjects, International Business in Mexico and International Finance, International students will work together with ITAM’s own Business students to explore both aspects of the country and its role in the global economic community. Language and Culture courses will be give students an additional dimension into the cultural environment of the country.
All courses will also include visits to leading Business and Cultural sites of Mexico City and some optional visits to sites in the provinces will also be organized.Instituto Technológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is recognized as one of the top five business schools in Mexico. EMU's COB and Office of Academic Programs Abroad, in collaboration with ITAM offers this unique opportunity to learn about Mexico's business environment and contributions to this new global economy.

Program Description:
Students are required to enroll in 12 ITAM credits (equivalent to 6 EMU credits) in any combination of the following courses in Business and/or Spanish Language & Culture:
International Business (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
International Marketing (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
- International Political and Economic Environments
- The Global Business Eenvironment and its Applications to International Market
Strategy
- Company Analyses and Marketing Strategy Development
- Effectiveness of Marketing Strategy in Foreign Countris
- Identification and Evaluation of New Markets Abroad
International Finance (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
- Exchange Rate Determination
- Currency Futures and Options
- Foreign Exchange Risk Management
- Multinational Capital Budgeting
Spanish Language and Culture (3 ITAM credits / 1.5 EMU credits); choose two of the following:
- Spanish language and Composition
- Spanish Conversation
- Business Spanish
- Mexican Culture and Civilzation: A Historical Overview
Course Structure
Each Business course consists of 6 ITAM credits with 48 contact hours of class discussion and lectures in English. Language courses consist of a total of 24 contact hours each.

Itinerary
- June 13 : Participants should arrive in Mexico City. For airport pickup service, students must send their arrival information to exchange@itam.mx
- June 14 : Welcome, Orientation and Tour of Mexico City
- June 15 : Classes begin
- July 27 and July 28: Final Examinations
- July 29: Program conclusion. Students return home of are free for personal travel
