Business and Culture
in Mexico

Business and Culture in Mexico is a six week program offered in collaboration with ITAM to undergraduate students as a unique chance to learn about Mexico's business environment and contributions to this new global economy. As part of the program, you will visit companies leading the economic growth of Mexico's participation in the global economy. Instituto Technológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is recognized as being one of the top five business schools in Mexico.

Program Description:
Students are required to enroll in 12 ITAM credits (equivalent to 6 EMU credits) in any combination of the following courses in Business and/or Spanish Language & Culture:
International Business (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
- International Political and Economic Environments
- International Investment
- International Trade and Related Agreements
- International Tax Systems
- International Human Resources
International Marketing (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
- International Political and Economic Environments
- The Global Business Eenvironment and its Applications to International Market
Strategy
- Company Analyses and Marketing Strategy Development
- Effectiveness of Marketing Strategy in Foreign Countris
- Identification and Evaluation of New Markets Abroad
International Finance (6 ITAM credits / 3 EMU credits)
- Exchange Rate Determination
- Currency Futures and Options
- Foreign Exchange Risk Management
- Multinational Capital Budgeting
Spanish Language and Culture (3 ITAM credits / 1.5 EMU credits); choose two of the following:
- Spanish language and Composition
- Spanish Conversation
- Business Spanish
- Mexican Culture and Civilzation: A Historical Overview
Course Structure
Each Business course consists of 6 ITAM credits with 48 contact hours of class discussion and lectures in English. Language courses consist of a total of 24 contact hours each.

Instituto Technológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is a private institution with a total of about 5,800 students. ITAM is internationally renowned for its commitment to excellence in education and is recognized as being one of the top five business schools in Mexico.
Itinerary
- Saturday, June 14th: Participants should arrive in Mexico City. For airport pickup service, students must send their arrival information to exchange@itam.mx
- Sunday, June 15th: Welcome, Orientation and Tour of Mexico City
- Monday, June 16th: Classes begin
- Monday and Tuesday, July 28th and 29th: Final Examinations
- Wednesday, July 30th : Students return home or are free for personal travel.

Due on or before May 1st 2008:
- Registration Fee US $200 (equivalent in Mexican Pesos)
(This fee is non-refundable unless the student is not accepted into the program.)
Due on or before May 4th 2008:
- EMU Tuition and Fees for 6 credit hours
- $200 APA Program Fee
Due on or before June 15th 2008:
- Full Payment for Accommodation: Reservations will be taken on an individual basis: total cost for six weeks will range between US$450-$675.00 for single occupancy
The above fees DO NOT COVER the following:
- Round-trip air to and from Mexico City.
- Meals. All accommodation have cooking facilities, and meals and snacks may be purchased at the ITAM cafeteria.
- Evening and weekend entertainment, travel and personal expenses, including laundry & telephone.
- Hotel during weekend excursions.
