The Institute for Disability Education and Advocacy houses educational/resource materials on a wide range of disabilities and advocacy information for students, staff, and the community. I.D.E.A. offers books, audiotapes, and videos. Some of the topic areas are:

Ten Commandments/Communicating with People with Disabilities
Transitions to Post-secondary Learning
A little History Worth Knowing

The Institute offers:

Assistance with documentation discovery for students regarding their disability documentation.
Training can be provided to faculty, staff, and community members on disability relations, this is offered individually and to groups.
Opportunities for research on disability issues for university community members.

The Institute is available to ALL individuals for exploring and learning about disability issues.

Acts as a safe environment for an individual to learn more about a disability without having to self-identify to the university Access Services Office. The Institute can also serve as a meeting location for support groups of students with disabilities.
