Applying as a Guest Student to Eastern Michigan University
 
 

Please note: guest students must complete an application for each semester they wish to attend. Spring and Summer count as one semester.

If you are interested in applying as a guest student to Eastern Michigan University, you can find the application on our web site at:

  1. Print the form
  2. Complete part I of the form and
  3. Ask the registrar at your home college or university to complete part II of the form and put it in a sealed university envelope. The registrar can either mail it to the EMU Admissions Office OR You can arrange to pick up the sealed envelope and bring it to us for an “onsite” admission decision.
  4. The application fee is $30 for mailed applications and $20 for those turned in in-person. If you mail a check for your application fee be sure to enclose a sheet with your name, address, birthdate and a note that you are applying as a guest.
  5. Non-U.S. citizens should contact international admissions in 400 Pierce Hall (734- 487-0205) to confirm what additional documents are required (i.e., copy of PR card, copy of H-1/H-4 docs &
    H-1 employer letter, FLET/I-20 if F-1, etc.).

 

There is a $110 late registration fee for students who register after the first week of classes in the spring semester and did not have all application materials in by the admission priority deadline or were delayed by override or prerequisite requirements.

Registration for guest students registering for winter begins on November 17. Classes fill early so don’t delay.

 


Once you are admitted you will get a student ID and PIN number. You may also want to:
  1. Get department permission for upper level courses: Contact the academic department and FAX or show them your college transcript to demonstrate that you have completed the necessary prerequisites for the course that you wish to enroll for.

  2. Open a "my.emich" account to enroll in the course using a computer from anywhere.

  3. Have your picture taken in the basement of McKenny Union for an official EMU ID. Your ID will give you access to access to not only the Lloyd-Olds Recreation and Intramural building, Halle Library, and computer labs (located in McKenny and Halle)


  4. Don’t forget that upon completion of your class(es) you will need to request that your EMU transcript be sent back to your home institution to ensure that your home institution awards the credit to you.

On-campus food options vary by semester. For more information contact the Housing and Dining Services at 734-487-0418 or online at https://www.emich.edu/dining/. Food vendors at McKenny Union are always available when the campus is open, although hours may vary by semester.

Parking to park your vehicle on campus you will need a parking pass. you can also find out more about acquiring a parking pass at 734-487-3450 or online at http://www.emich.edu/publicsafety/parking.htm
