Dual Enrollment

Students with a cumulative GPAs of a 3.0 or higher and who have completed 4 semesters of high school are eligible for dual enrollment at EMU.

Dual enrollment allows a student to take college level classes while still in high school. These credits will become part of the student's college transcript. If the student earns a C or better in the course, it should be accepted by most colleges or universities.

To apply to be accepted as a dual enroll student, students should complete the undergraduate application and check the dual enroll box. Students must pay the application fee and forward a letter from their parents, and one from you (a guidance counselor from the school they are currently attending) indicating that the parents and counselor support the student's application for dual enrollment.

Students applying to be dual enrolled are financially responsible for the class for which they enroll and all applicable university fees. The costs for some dual enrolled students are sometimes reimbursed to the student by the school district. This happens in cases where the student has completed all available courses in a subject area that are offered by the district, and the student wants to continue in that subject area. This most commonly occurs with foreign language and math courses. In such cases, the student must work with the school district for reimbursement.
