First-Year/Freshman Students
Admitted Students
Note: New freshmen admitted for the fall semester must attend Fusion Orientation. For the spring, summer, or winter semesters, alternate steps may apply. Call 800.GO.TO.EMU for your specific next steps.
- Obtain Your Student ID Number
When you are admitted, a letter is sent to you that includes your student ID and PIN number. Use this information to set up your My.Emich Account.
- Set Up Your My Emich account
Once you have your student ID and PIN number, you can set up your My.Emich account. My.Emich is the campus portal system that will allow you to register online, check your schedule, set up an e-mail account, find out about your financial aid and pay your bills.
- Register for Fusion Orientation
Fusion: New Student Orientation is a two-part program designed to show you the ins-and-outs of life at EMU and take care of all of the business of starting your EMU career. Fusion begins in the spring with a one-day Fast Track session. It continues September 4-7 with First Four.
- Register For Classes
At Fast Track, you will meet with academic advisers to register for classes. You can make adjustments to this schedule and register for future semesters using the online registration process. You are required to attend a general education group advising session before you are able to register for your second semester classes.
- Get Your Eagle One ID Card
Your Eagle One card is your student identification card. It can also be activated as a debit card. To get your Eagle One card, take the printed copy of your schedule and a picture ID, such as a driver's license, to the Eagle One office, located in located at 201 Pierce Hall - Ypsilanti, MI 48197 (on the second floor of the Pierce Hall).
- Sign up for Housing
If you are interested in living in the residence halls, you must complete a housing contract and bring or mail the completed contract and the housing deposit to the cashier's office in 200 Pierce Hall, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197.
- Attend First Four
First Four starts Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 and ends Tuesday, Aug. 30., 2010. A detailed schedule will be available at the Fusion Orientation web site. During First Four, you will familiarize yourself with EMU people and places, hear from professors about what to expect in the classroom, and participate in a variety of fun, interactive activities. - Get a Parking Permit
Students who are planning to live on campus and want to bring a car must purchase a Resident Parking Permit. If you are planning to commute, you can order your Commuter Parking Permit online or in person at the parking department on campus.
- Get Financial Aid
If you have completed the FAFSA and requested that your student aid report be sent to EMU, you will automatically be considered for financial aid
