Register today for Education First Scholars Day!

Eastern Michigan University offers an opportunity for high school seniors with a 3.3 or higher grade point average to experience EMU's Education First environment firsthand. Education First Scholars Day is specifically designed for students who are not eligible for EMU's Presidential Scholarship Competition.

At Education First Scholars Day, students will have the opportunity to earn an academic scholarship or increase the amount of their academic scholarship. The 2009-2010 Education First Scholars Days will take place Saturday, November 14, 2009 and Saturday, January 23, 2010. High school students in the class of 2010 may participate in Education First Scholars Day during their senior year.

Am I Eligible?

You are eligible to attend Education First Scholars Day if you are a high school student in the fall of 2009, admissible to the University for Fall 2010 and you have a 3.3 or higher cumulative high school grade-point average.

Students attending a school that does not weight grades for Honors or AP/IB courses will have their application reviewed and recalculated, if necessary.

No one with a grade point average below a 3.3 will be considered for Education First Scholars Day.

How much scholarship money can I earn at Education First Scholars Day?

Students with a 3.3 or higher GPA who do not qualify for scholarships under EMU's initial test score requirements can earn an Eagle Scholarship - a $1,500 per year, renewable, four-year award.

Students with a 3.3 GPA and 20 ACT or 950 SAT score can upgrade from the Eagle Scholarship to the Recognition of Excellence Scholarship - an additional award of $500 per year, for a total four-year renewable scholarship award of $2,000 per year.

Students with a 3.5 GPA and 21 ACT or 1000 SAT score can upgrade from the Recognition of Excellence Scholarship to the Regents Scholarship - an additional award of $1,000 per year, for a total four-year renewable scholarship award of $3,000 per year.

To calculate which scholarship award you may already qualify for, visit EMU's Office of Financial Aid. All Eagle, Recognition of Excellence and Regents Scholarship offers include an additional $1,000 Housing Award for students who live in EMU's residence halls.

How do I earn or upgrade my scholarship?
