First-Year Students
Fast Track Orientation
Call 800.GO.TO.EMU today to register for Fast Track Orientation and officially become an Eagle!
If you are already admitted as a first-year student and you're planning to attend EMU in the Fall, you need to sign up for Fast Track Orientation. Fast Track Orientation is our mandatory admission program that allows you to take care of all your "business" needs in one trip to campus.
During your Fast Track Orientation session, you will:
- register for Fall classes
- learn about EMU’s general education requirements
- meet with faculty and staff regarding your major
- get your photo taken for your official student ID card
- learn about Fusion Orientation and Housing
- meet with various campus offices
In addition, you can:
- register for Fusion Orientation
- pre-order your textbooks
- tour a residence hall room
How long is the program?
Each session is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with check-in from 8-8:30 a.m. Each session is held in the EMU Student Center.
Are parents/family welcome to attend?
Absolutely. A special program for parents and family will provide information about financial, business, academic and community support resources available to students and families at EMU.
What do I need to bring to Fast Track Orientation?
- a government-issued photo ID
- Fast Track Orientation checklist (you'll receive this in advance by mail or email)
- materials you have received regarding financial aid and scholarships
- comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, including shoes that are good for walking
What is the cost?
The cost is $29 per student. The Fast Track Orientation fee is not affected by financial aid and must be paid by every participant. The fee will automatically be billed to your student account in September. No payment is required or collected on the day of Fast Track Orientation.
Choosing a date
If possible, attend Fast Track Orientation on a date where your major grouping is featured. Review our Fast Track Orientation brochure for a full listing of which majors are featured on each Fast Track Orientation date. If you are undecided about your major, choose a date that fits well with your schedule and your possible academic interests. But don't worry, there are general advisers at every Fast Track Orientation session. If you attend on a date when your major grouping is not featured, you'll still receive the necessary guidance to help you register for an oustanding first-year schedule.
