Alumni Association Awards

The Alumni Association of Eastern Michigan University recognizes outstanding achievement in four different categories each year.

Alumni Awards

The Alumni Awards honor alumni and friends each year in May, with recipients in each of four different award categories:

Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna Award

This award is presented to alumni whose achievements have been signified personal honors bestowed upon them by their peers and who have demonstrated the worth of their education through their post-college achievements. Generally, recipients have been graduates of EMU for less than 10 years.

2013 Outstanding Alumni Awards

• Suzie Staley-Schlott (BS01, MA04) - Communication, Media & Theatre Arts

Past recipients

Alumnus/Alumna Achievement Award

This award is presented to alumni who have achieved distinction in their chosen fields, clearly demonstrated the value of their college education, and maintained a continuing interest in Eastern Michigan University. Generally, recipients have been graduates of EMU for 10-25 years.

2013 Alumni Achievement Awards

• John W. Rutherford (MA95) - Communication, Media & Theatre Arts

Past recipients

Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award

This award is presented to alumni who have achieved extraordinary distinction in their chosen field, demonstrated exceptional service to others, and maintained a continuing interest in Eastern Michigan University. Generally, recipients have been graduates of EMU for more than 25 years.

2013 Distinguished Alumni Award

• Kirk A. Profit (BS75) - Philosophy and Political Science
• Annmarie Simonson (BS82) - Communications, Media & Theatre Arts
• Jim Streeter (BS73) - Physical Education

Past recipients

Dr. John W. Porter Distinguished Service Award

This award is presented to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to Eastern Michigan University or the Alumni Association of EMU. Recipients need not be graduates of Eastern Michigan University.
