March 1

Alumni Association Board/annual meeting: The Alumni Association Board of Directors will meet Saturday, March 1, at 9 a.m. in the EMU Foundation Building. Immediately following, the EMU Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting.

AART basketball reception: Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team (AART) members and a guest are invited to a reception and basketball game Saturday, March 1, at the EMU Convocation Center. AART members will receive free game tickets and admission to Suite H (located on the west side of the arena). Eagle Nation luncheon: Get the inside scoop on EMU Athletics. A group will attend the Detroit Tigers vs. Philadelphia Phillies game at 1:05 p.m. at Joker Marchant Stadium (2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd.) Tickets are $15 per person. Friends and guests are welcome. COB Ethos Week: Alumni are invited to participate in the College of Business Second Annual Ethos Week. The exciting week kicks off Monday, March 10, at the Gary M. Owen Building where Paul W. Smith and WJR-AM 760 will broadcast live from 6-9 a.m., followed by the unveiling/signing of the 2008 Ethos Banner. The weeklong series of speakers include six local business leaders and syndicated columnist Bruce Weinstein, also known as “The Ethics Guy.” Weinstein rounds out the week as keynote speaker at the Ethos Week Luncheon Friday, March 14, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest. EMU Bookstore Graduate Fair: A Graduation Fair will be hosted March 11-12 at the EMU Student Center Bookstore. "Real Life" program: Students will tap into alumni experience at the "Real Life: Careers in Journalism" program, Wednesday, March 12, 4-5 p.m. in the Student Center’s Kiva Room. The event is hosted by the Office for Alumni Relations Office and Career Services Center with the help of the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR). MPA Alumni reception: Members of the Master of Public Administration Alumni Chapter gather at EMU's University House Wednesday, March 12. The chapter is hosting a reception for MPA alumni and new graduates from 6-8 p.m. The evening includes an induction ceremony for Pi Alpha Alpha. Senior Alumni Brown Bag Lecture: A Senior Alumni Brown Bag Lecture will be hosted Wednesday, March 19, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the EMU Student Center, Room 352. The event is in partnership with ElderQuest and the Art Department. Richard Rubenfeld, EMU professor of art, presents “Artists Who Age Successfully.” He will focus on artists who continued to create significant art late in their lives. Artists Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Georgia O’Keeffe will be covered in this presentation. Through the new Senior Alumni Program Program, alumni over age 60 can: attend Brown Bag Lectures; interact with prominent alumni and community leaders; give back through volunteer opportunities; travel Michigan; tap into campus resources; participate in community service projects; and have fun! GOLD family event: Graduates of the Last Decade are invited to bring their children to the EMU Student Center Saturday, March 29, to learn "The Scoop on Swoop." The free, family-friendly event includes the chance to see a live eagle and other amazing birds of prey as part of a dynamic presentation by the Leslie Science Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in room 330. Afterward, participate in fun, hands-on activities involving a variety of bird artifacts and an eagle craft project in room 320 from 11:30 to noon.
