Washington, D.C., alumni and friends social: EMU's Office for Alumni Relations and National Capital Alumni Chapter team up to host an alumni and friends social in Washington, D.C., Thursday, Oct. 4. The hors d'oeuvres reception is from 6-8 p.m. at Willard InterContinental Washington (1401 Pennsylvania Ave., NW). The cost is $15 per person. Eagle Nation Fall Sports Luncheons: Get an inside look at EMU football, volleyball, soccer and basketball programs at the upcoming Eagle Nation Fall Sports Luncheons. October luncheons are Thursday, Oct. 18 and Friday, Oct. 26 at noon in the Convocation Center atrium. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the door. Young and Successful III: The Black Alumni Chapter is hosting the third installment of it’s “Young and Successful” student program series Tuesday, Oct. 23, 6-8 p.m., at the Student Center, Room 330. The panelists – three EMU alumni who fit the theme: How to be successful before the age of 30 – are Toni Carter, area human resources director for Sears Holdings; Kevin Davis, managing partner of Crush Media Group; and Taliah Williams, a high school teacher for Southfield Public Schools. Golden Years Reunion: Class of 1957: The Golden Years Society inducts the Class of 1957 on Friday, Oct. 26. The day's events include: brunch and induction ceremony at Eagle Crest Club House, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (registration/reception begins at 10 a.m.; cost is $25 for class of '57, $35 for all guests); free campus tours at 1 p.m.; and reunion dinner at Cady's in Depot Town at 5 p.m. (individual dinner cost paid by attendee) followed by a performance of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at 7 p.m. in Quirk Theatre (tickets are $9 per person). Explore Eastern: EMU's Explore Eastern program joins the list of Homecoming Day activities Saturday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Center. The open-house program is a great way for high school students, transfer students and graduate students to learn about EMU and how an EMU education can launch the path to their future. "FLASHBACK" Alumni Tailgate: Join EMU alumni and friends before the big Homecoming football game for all the retro fun, Saturday, Oct. 27, at the "FLASHBACK" Alumni Tailgate. Load up on EMU spirit as we celebrate the 1970s and 1980s with music presented by WNIC – known for its flashback weekends at 100.3 FM. The tailgate begins at 1:30 p.m. near the entrance gate on the west side of Rynearson Stadium; the Eagles kickoff against the Western Michigan Broncos at 3:30 p.m. The event includes food, give-away items and activities for EMU fans of all ages. Black Alumni networking social: Mix and mingle with the Black Alumni Chapter Saturday, Oct. 27, immediately following the Homecoming football game (6:30 p.m.). The chapter is hosting a networking social in Livonia at Shanahan's Pub located at the Radisson Hotel (17123 Laurel Park Dr.). Historic Preservation Alumni Halloween party: The Historic Preservation Alumni Chapter will celebrate Halloween in Adrian, Mich., Saturday, Oct. 27, during Rocktoberfest 2007 along with student group Preservation Eastern.
