Huron Restoration Alumni Chapter

Chapter's Mission:

A. 

To operate exclusively for the benefit of, to perform one or more of the functions of, and to carry-out one or more of the purposes of the EMU Huron Restoration, Alumni Chapter.

B. 

To advance and promote the long-term well being of Eastern Michigan University.

C. 

To encourage association, friendship and fraternity among and between members and all segments of Eastern Michigan University.

D. 

To conduct, establish, develop and/or sponsor programs and activities, which further the aspirations of an overwhelming majority of Eastern Michigan alumni, students, faculty and friends, and including the Huron-Wyandotte Tribes of Oklahoma and Quebec to:

  1. Restore the name "Huron" to Eastern Michigan University; and
  2. Establish a scholarship to fund financial aid to Native American students; and
  3. Found a Huron Heritage Center on campus, which preserves at Eastern Michigan University the proud traditions and history of the Huron-Wendat Nation.

Huron Restoration Alumni Chapter Scholarship:

Information about EMU Huron Restoration Alumni Chapter $500 scholarship award may be obtained at the Financial Aid office, 403 Pierce Hall.

The EMU Huron Restoration Alumni Chapter annually awards a $500 fall semester and $500 winter semester scholarship to a deserving Eastern Michigan University student of Native American lineage. The full recipient criteria is as follows:

1. Must be able to prove a Native American bloodline.

2. Successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at Eastern Michigan University with a 2.75 cumulative grade point average.

3. Currently enrolled at Eastern Michigan University for a minimum of 12 credit hours for the upcoming semester for which a scholarship is awarded.

4. Submit a brief biographical sketch which demonstrates a knowledge of current Native American issues and highlights academic achievement, leadership experience, college goals, etc.

5. Complete and submit above items with the short application that is available at the Eastern Michigan University Office of Financial Aid, 403 Pierce Hall.

Criteria for scholarships may be modified at the discretion of the EMU Huron Restoration Alumni Chapter Scholarship and Awards Committee and/or executive board at any time.
