Chapter's Mission:
The purposes of the LGBT and Friends Chapter, as a chapter of the Alumni Association of EMU are:

to provide a recognized forum that facilitates dialogue and builds positive relationships between the University, the EMU Alumni Association, and its EMU LGBT alumni |

to support and encourage a positive social and academic environment throughout the University for its LGBT alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends |
| |
to keep LGBT alumni informed of the progress of the University and the chapter, especially in relation to the concerns, needs, goals and interests of the LGBT alumni students, faculty, staff and friends |
| |
to develop programs that will support current LGBT students, such as scholarships and mentoring programs |
| |
to assure visibility of and advocate for the concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender alumni to cooperate with the Alumni Association of EMU in promoting the interest and welfare of EMU among its students, graduates, former students and their families. |
