Do I have to pay dues to be a member of the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association?

NO. The Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association is NOT a dues-paying organization. When you graduated, you automatically became a member. You will have to ACTIVATE your membership to receive all of the benefits and your membership card. Activate your membership today by completing the EMU Alumni Association Membership Form.

How do I obtain a copy of my academic transcript?

To order an Eastern Michigan University transcript, you will have to complete a transcript request form and mail it to the Cashier's Office. You can call 734/487-4201 for recorded ordering instructions or click here for more transcript ordering information.

How can I obtain an unofficial copy of my academic transcript?

Current students and students with enrollment activity since winter 2001 can acquire unofficial transcripts online through your my.emich account. Information can be obtained at: Academic Transcripts on the Web.

I just graduated. When will I receive my diploma? What will it look like?

Your diploma will be mailed in about 8 or 9 weeks to your diploma mailing address on record with the University. The document measures 8"x10" and is printed with your legal name (as it appears on your application for graduation), degree name and honors earned (if applicable). Unclaimed original diplomas are maintained at the Office of Records and Registration. How can I get a new diploma if mine is lost or damaged?

You can order a new diploma by sending a written request and $30/undergraduate, $35/graduate payment to the Records and Registration Office. The request must include the following information:

· Full legal name (as it should appear on your diploma)
· Name when you attended, if different (please provide legal documentation for any name change)
· Social security or student ID number
· Degree received
· Graduation date
· Address to which diploma should be sent
· Signature of graduate
· Check or money order for $30/undergraduate, $35/graduate (made payable to Eastern Michigan University)

Requests and payment should be mailed to:

Please allow 8 to 9 weeks for delivery of specially ordered diplomas.

How can I find a former classmate?

Are you looking for a former Eastern Michigan University classmate or roommate? If you would like to get back in touch with your EMU friends, use our Alumni Locator Service . Privacy regulations prevent us from giving out information about our alumni. However, with your permission, we can pass your contact information along to the person you are looking for (provided their record in the alumni database is up-to-date). It will then be up to him/her as to whether or not he/she contacts you. You may submit an Alumni Locator Request online or by phone, e-mail, fax, or mail.

What benefits and services are available to me as a graduate?

How can I get a copy of the newest Alumni Directory?

You can order the 2004 Alumni Directory through Harris Publishing by calling 1-800-877-6554. Directories will be ready near the end of 2004.

Where is the Office for Alumni Relations located?

The Office for Alumni Relations is located at 1349 S. Huron Street, in Ypsilanti. Take I94 to exit 183 and go south approximately one half mile. We are on the left (east) side of the road just past the traffic light that serves as the entrance to Eagle Crest Conference Resort. Space is shared with the EMU Foundation, Eagle Crest administrative staff, and Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, PC.

What can I do to mentor current EMU students?

A great way to assist current students is to participate in our Alumni Career Connection Program. This program links you with a student who has a similar career interest or major. Your experience in the "real world" can be extremely beneficial for students as they plan for their own futures. To learn more or to sign up, go to our Alumni Career Connection Program Web site.

What can I do to assist EMU in recruiting students?

You can volunteer to participate in the Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team. Through this program, you will be trained to help recruit students for EMU. Some of the ways you can participate include helping at on-campus visit programs or writing letters to admitted students. By sharing your own EMU memories, perhaps you will be the reason a student chooses to attend your alma mater. To learn more or to sign up go to our Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team Web site.

I don't live in Ypsilanti. Can I still be involved in the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association?

Yes. The Alumni Association has a number of chapters, including many in states other than Michigan. You can also start your own chapter or serve as an alumni contact for your area. For a complete list of chapters and alumni contacts, go to our Alumni Chapters Web site.

Additionally, you can participate in the Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team and the Alumni Career Connection Program no matter where you live!

Plus, don't forget to check the events calendar for an alumni activity that may be taking place near you.

What can I do to support EMU's legislative initiatives?

Does the Alumni Association offer any scholarships?
