Enthusiasm for and support of Eastern Michigan University and a desire to further the interests and visibility of EMU in the community or among the affinity base
Complete the chartering process for active alumni chapters, including creation of bylaws, election of officers and submission of request for chapter status to a full vote of the Alumni Association Board of Directors
Have at least one chapter-initiated activity per fiscal year (i.e., not created and operated by the Office for Alumni Relations)
Submit an annual report of activities, membership, officers and finances
Assist Office for Alumni Relations with outreach events in the chapter’s area
Act as point of contact for alumni in the area or affinity base

Chapter information on the Office for Alumni Relations Web site and in alumni publications (and link to chapter’s Web site, if applicable)
One free mailing to chapter membership per fiscal year
Possible financial assistance for a chapter activity or initiative from the Office for Alumni Relations through the chapter grant program
A limited number of giveaway items from the Office for Alumni Relations for use at chapter events
A chapter handbook with guidelines for growing and maintaining alumni chapters
Lists from the Office for Alumni Relations' database of alumni in the area
Monthly communication from the Office for Alumni Relations about campus happenings
A database of alumni chapter members housed in the Office for Alumni Relations
