The Alumni Association Board of Directors would like to announce the recipients of the 2011-2012 Alumni Association Scholarships.
The Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Scholarship was established in 1970 to encourage children and grandchildren of alumni to continue the EMU legacy. The Alumni Association Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship with an award of $1,250. The applicant must be the child or grandchild of a graduate of EMU and an incoming freshman, sophomore, transfer student or graduate student.

Katherine MaiuriGraduate Award RecipientKatherine is a native of Rochester, MI. She attended Grand Valley State University. While there, Katherine was heavily involved in student life activities as well as numerous clubs and organizations. She was also a dean's list scholar and a Phi Kappa Phi honoree. Katherine completed her enrollment at Grand Valley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Katherine was admitted to the Master of Arts in Higher Education/ Student Affairs Program at Eastern Michigan University. She hopes to one day become an academic/career advisor. Katherine currently works in the Holman Success Center at Eastern and she is a 2011 Alumni Association Graduate Scholarship Recipient. |

Colin GuimondUndergraduate Award RecipientColin is a native of Belleville, MI. He attended Belleville High School. He is active in the EMU marching band. Colin was a drum major and section leader in his high school's marching band. He also was a member of Belleville High School's chapter of the National Honor Society, Varsity and league bowling, and baseball. |
Ryan T. HancockUndergraduate Award RecipientRyan is a native of New Hudson, MI. He attended South Lyon High School. While in high school Ryan was a part of the National Honor Society, Livonia City Soccer Club, and P.R.I.D.E. (Positive Relationships Intended to Deliver Excellence), where he mentored younger students. Ryan is also profoundly involved in the local community. Ryan is pursuing a degree in Business at EMU. He is the son of two Eastern Michigan University graduates and he hopes to one day be able to help other EMU students achieve their goals just as others have helped him. |
Alex S. HeatlieUndergraduate Award RecipientAlex is a native of Ypsilanti, MI. He attended Huron High School. There he was heavily involved in the extra-curricular activities offered at his school. Some of these activities include the lacrosse team, the tennis team, and the football team. Alex also was a dean's list scholar and a scholar athlete for four years. At Eastern Michigan University, Alex majors in Film and minors in Fine Arts. |
Victoria L. KayeUndergraduate Award Recipient Victoria is a native of Canton, MI. She attended Salem High School. While attending Salem High School, she was the captain of the Salem High School varsity soccer team and served with the school's student council. Victoria has a passion for nursing and hopes to one day become an excellent nurse. While at Eastern Michigan University she plans to major in the Nursing program to prepare herself for her future career. She chose to pursue the field of nursin because helping others is her passion.
