Names: Paul and Marian Schreiber

Relationship Status: Married

Anniversary Date: August 7, 1982

Do you have children? Yes

How many? 2 daughters - Emily and Amanda. Amanda is currently a sophomore attending EMU and Emily is preparing to begin her Master’s degree at EMU.

How did you meet? We were both in the EMU marching band from 1977-1980.

Where was your first date? We went sledding with some band friends at Huron Hills Golf Course in Ann Arbor at the intersection of Huron Parkway and the Huron River. (We had to ask one of our college buddies because we couldn’t remember the location!)

Any cute memories you have together at Eastern?
1. We both lived in Goddard. Marian had just baked cookies. Paul and his roommates came to her room (dressed in bathrobes and carrying rubber dart guns). They “held up” Marian and her roommates so they could steal the cookies. Imagine answering a knock at the door and opening it to 4 “guns”!

2. Making a trip to the local department store with our friends and running up and down the aisles of toys playing with the Star Wars light sabers. We rode the pony for a penny too!

Years attended Eastern: 1977-1981 bachelor degrees, 1984-1987 Masters degrees

Any romantic advice you would give to students: Above all else, it is essential to be best friends! That is the strong foundation for a respectful, stable relationship.

Other interesting EMU family facts: Paul has 3 siblings. All of them attended Eastern and met their future spouses there too! We have a total of 15 family members that have attended EMU.
