After a nation-wide search, the EMU Alumni Association and Office for Alumni Relations are pleased to welcome Ann Thompson as the new Executive Director for Alumni Relations. Ann joins Eastern after leading the alumni relations office at Anna Maria College in Massachusetts, where she provided leadership and strategic direction to the program and increased alumni engagement by 180 percent as measured by event attendance, social media and volunteer opportunities.

Prior to her time at Anna Maria College, Ann was director of alumni relations at Stony Brook University in New York, where she oversaw a combined Alumni Association and University budget of $1.5 million and served as campus spokesperson for alumni issues related to operations, policy, initiatives, program assessments and publications. Before that she spent nearly 11 years at University of Massachusetts Amherst in a variety of roles and increasing responsibilities, with her final three years as Director of Alumni Clubs and Programs. She also was part of the Boston College Alumni Association team for five years.

Ann is a graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Business Administration. She is originally from Bowling Green, Ohio where she travels frequently to visit extended family and friends. Her immediate family members still reside in Northwest Ohio and in the Detroit area.

The Alumni Relations professional staff team includes: Office Supervisor Patti Cartwright, Assistant Director Dan Mathis, '07, and Assistant Director Jessica Nietrzeba, '08.

The office is assisted by six student employees: Alison Figliomeni, Jovan Johnson, Paul Martell, Lisa McClees, Will Peet, and Timon Sherman.

The Office for Alumni Relations is the coordinating body for alumni engagement efforts at Eastern Michigan University. In conjunction with the EMU Alumni Association, the office plans activities, events, and communications that engage EMU's growing alumni base of over 150,000.
