There's an AART to bringing great students to Eastern Michigan University!

What's it like to live in Ypsilanti? Is EMU a big, impersonal campus? What are the classes like? How is it living in a residence hall?

Do you remember when these questions were running through your head? Did you ever wish you could talk to someone who had attended EMU to find out what it would be like? Choosing a college can be an intimidating experience for a young adult, and a big public university can seem like an impersonal place. But now, by being a member of the Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team, you have the opportunity to show prospective students that Eastern Michigan University is a special learning community! AART is a cooperative effort between the Office for Alumni Relations and the Office of Admissions at Eastern Michigan University.

The goals of the AART program are:

  1. Increase the number of highly competitive and qualified students who apply to Eastern Michigan University.
  2. Increase the number of admitted students who enroll.
  3. Increase EMU's visibility and awareness of its programs.
  4. Provide a local information source for inquiring students, applicants, admitted and enrolled students and their families.
  5. Increase connectivity of alumni to EMU by engaging them in meaningful service through sharing their positive experiences as students on campus.

Why should I participate in AART?
Joining AART is a great way for you to get involved and give back to your alma mater-- plus, it's fun! And you'd be surprised what a difference a small amount of personalized contact can make to a student who's trying to decide where to go to college.

Here are some benefits of participating in the program:

  • Knowledge that you are giving back to EMU.
  • Knowledge that you are serving as a mentor of sorts for high school students contemplating their future.
  • Greater sense of connection to EMU stemming from increased awareness of the University, its programs, and what's happening on campus.
  • Ability to relive your own college experience through sharing memories with prospective students.
Plus, all of our AARTists will be invited to an annual reception to thank them for their hard work on behalf of Eastern Michigan University.

What are the ways I can be involved?
Whether you live in Ypsilanti or Yuma, you can be involved in the AART program! Some of our options involve coming to campus, but other options allow you to focus on recruiting students in your own backyard-- wherever that backyard may be.
