Katherine Maiuri
Graduate Award Recipient

Katherine is a native of Rochester, MI. She attended Grand Valley State University. While there, Katherine was heavily involved in student life activities as well as numerous clubs and organizations. She was also a dean’s list scholar and a Phi Kappa Phi honoree. Katherine completed her enrollment at Grand Valley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Katherine was admitted to the Master of Arts in Higher Education/ Student Affairs Program at Eastern Michigan University. She hopes to one day become an academic/career advisor. Katherine currently works in the Holman Success Center at Eastern and she is a 2011 Alumni Association Graduate Scholarship Recipient.


 
David J. Rivera
Undergraduate Award Recipient

David is a native of Southfield, MI. He attended Wylie Groves High School, where he was a member of the Wylie Groves High School football team, wrestling team, band and Boy Scouts of America. David was inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars and was named one of Wylie Groves High School’s scholar athletes. David is no stranger to hard work and service. While at Wylie Groves High School, he volunteered and assisted with several community service events such as the Martin Luther King Day Food Drive and the 2011 Kids against Hunger Campaign. At Eastern Michigan University, David plans to major in Chemistry. He is excited about being an “Eastern Eagle” and looking forward to becoming an active member of the EMU family.


 
Mackenzie R. Mousouleas
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Mackenzie is a native of Woodhaven, MI. She attended Riverview Community High School. During her years in high school Mackenzie was involved in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Spanish Club and the captain of the Riverview junior varsity volleyball team for two years. Mackenzie’s goal is to one day become an Occupational Therapist. She has prepared herself for this line of working by shadowing professionals in the Occupational Therapy field. She plans to pursue a degree in Biology with a minor in Spanish this fall at Eastern Michigan University.


 
Colin Guimond
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Colin is a native of Belleville, MI. He attended Belleville High School. He is active in the EMU marching band. Colin was a drum major and section leader in his high school’s marching band. He also was a member of Belleville High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society, varsity and league bowling, and baseball.


 
Alex S. Heatlie
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Alex is a native of Ypsilanti, MI. He attended Huron High School. There he was heavily involved in the extra-curricular activities offered at his school. Some of these activities include the lacrosse team, the tennis team, and the football team. Alex also was a dean’s list scholar and a scholar athlete for four years. At Eastern Michigan University, Alex majors in Film and minors in Fine Arts.


 
Ryan T. Hancock
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Ryan is a native of New Hudson, MI. He attended South Lyon High School. While in high school Ryan was a part of the National Honor Society, Livonia City Soccer Club, and P.R.I.D.E. (Positive Relationships Intended to Deliver Excellence), where he mentored younger students. Ryan is also profoundly involved in the local community. After graduating from high school with honors, Ryan pursues a degree in Business at EMU. He is the son of two Eastern Michigan University graduates and he hopes to one day be able to help other EMU students achieve their goals just as others have helped him.


 
Jeremy R. Gdaniec
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Jeremy is a native of Ypsilanti, MI. He is a recent graduate of Lincoln High School where he ranked number six out of 392 students. Throughout high school Jeremy was involved in the Lincoln High School band, where he was a section leader and in National Honor Society. Jeremy was accepted to the Honors College at Eastern.  He plans to major in Biology and music at Eastern Michigan University and minor in Chemistry. He hopes to one day become a zookeeper while still pursuing his passion for music.  


 
Victoria L. Kaye
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Victoria is a native of Canton, MI. She attended Salem High School. While at Salem High School, she was the captain of the Salem High School varsity soccer team and served with the school’s student council. Victoria has a passion for nursing and hopes to one day become an excellent nurse. While at Eastern Michigan University she plans to major in the Nursing program to prepare herself for her future career. She wants to make a difference in the lives of others and helping others gives her satisfaction and this is why she chose the nursing field.
