Kaitlin Dugas
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Kaitlin is a TRUEMU Legacy; both of her parents are EMU graduates. She is from Canton, Michigan and graduated high school in 2011. Kaitlin has excelled greatly in her educational career. Being an AP scholar with Honors and a recipient of the Leadership Scholarship award of the National Honors Society, demonstrate her devotion to her education. Kaitlin has taken many leadership roles. She was the swim captain of her high school team, chair of the Relay for Life, Canton Swim and Drive, and the chair of an Anti-Bullying Campaign. Currently at EMU, Kaitlin is working on a Symposium Undergraduate Research Fellow and competes in the Eastern Michigan University Mock Trial.


Heatlie
Melissa Heatlie
Graduate Award Recipient

Melissa is a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan seeking her second degree from Eastern Michigan University. As a member of the Honors College, Melissa graduated Summa Cum Laude while engaging in numerous extracurricular and service events. Throughout her time as an undergraduate, Melissa worked as a Resident Advisor and student worker at the College of Business, participated as member of the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR), served as President of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO), and actively contributed in Relay for Life. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising and will continue her graduate studies in the College of Business.


Weathers
Katherine Weathers
Graduate Award Recipient

Katherine currently resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan and is furthering her education in the graduate program for Higher Education Student Affairs. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Central State University, Katherine joined the professional work force. Over the years she has gained administration, management, marketing, and finance experience working in higher education, corporate, and non-profit sectors. Katherine currently works as a Student Services Coordinator for the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan and is a member of University Event Planners (UEP) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Ann Arbor Alumnae Chapter.


Lauren Jones
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Lauren is an EMU Legacy from Canton, Michigan and a graduate from Salem High School. While in high school, Lauren excelled academically and through extracurricular activities. She was a member of National Honor Society, a volunteer at community events and programs for pre-school aged students, and member of several soccer teams. Currently, Lauren is pursuing studies in Biology and Chemistry.


Laginess
Connor Kooyers
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Connor is a current resident of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, but a chance to continue his father's and grandfather's legacy will bring him to Eastern Michigan University as a management student. He is a recipient of the National Scholars Award and a member of National Honor Society. Connor serves as a peer tutor at his high school, youth ministry leader at his church, and member of the Marching Band. Additionally, Connor works as the Assistant Field Sports Director at Camp Independence, is an Eagle Scout, and has earned numerous honors through the Boys Scouts of America.


Laginess
Joelle Laginess
Undergraduate Award Recipient

Joelle is a native of Belleville, Michigan and graduate of Belleville High School. Joelle intends on pursuing a degree in Secondary Education and is motivated by the excellent programs provided by Eastern Michigan University and the opportunity to continue the legacy of both her parents. While in high school, Joelle served as the section leader of the drum line, a youth group leader, and a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and the tennis team.


McCormick
Victoria "Aubrea" McCormick

Undergraduate Award Recipient

Aubrea currently lives in West Tisbury, Massachusetts. For her, attending Eastern Michigan University not only strengthens the legacy of both her parents, but also the legacy of her extended family. While attending Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, Aubrea received High Honors awards, co-founded and instructed the high school volleyball team, was a member of the soccer team, and community volunteer. Aubrea hopes to complete her degree in Criminal Justice at Eastern Michigan University.
