Prospective Tenants

Thank you for your interest in EMU Apartments!


Full-time students, staff, and faculty, along with their dependents, are eligible to live with EMU Apartments. All applicants need to be in good standing academically, have no major issues with their disciplinary record, and need to be current on their Student Account. 


Applicants also must be:
• A returning or transfer students enrolled in 12 undergraduate credit hours, or
•  A returning or transfer students enrolled in 6 graduate credit hours, or
•  Actively completing an internship or writing a post-graduate thesis or dissertation (documentation required), or
•  Currently be employed as staff or faculty at EMU (rate surcharge applies, see Rate Sheet ). 


NOTE: Traditional freshmen students are not allowed to reside in University Apartments


We are currently not able to take payments electronically, nor can we accept credit/debit or cash payments at our office.  Money Orders and Personal Checks for application fees can be mailed to the address below or paid in person at our office.

Ready to Apply?


You have two ways of submitting your application; you can use our on-line application, or you can print-out our PDF application and submit it to our office in-person or via postal mail or fax.


If you have already submitted an application in the past, please do not apply on-line again. To re-apply, call the office and ask to "reactivate" your old application. The staff will then update your application via phone.

Please read this handbook carefully prior to signing your lease and/or moving-in and use this as a reference manual throughout the school year.


We recommend that you pay special attention to Appendix A, which contains the Terms and Conditions of our leases. Appendix A can be found starting on page 22.

Payment Guide

Payment Options and EMU Apartments


Rental payments are due on the 1st of every month. Payments are made at the Residence Life and Residential Services Office, located in the lower level of DC-One.
