All students who intend to major or minor in art are required to take art foundation courses, which are designed to develop basic skills and critical thinking.

These courses are intended to provide experiences with tools, equipment, and concepts leading toward aesthetic growth. Students are individually advised by experienced art faculty when making choices in studio art, art education, or art history courses or programs.

All studio art majors are also required to take art history courses and have the opportunity to study a broad range of topics.
