To log on to Banner, you will need an internet connection, an ICT supported web browser, and a valid Banner username and password.

  1. Navigate to the Banner Launch page by typing http://ict.emich.edu/inb in your browser address bar.


  2. INB Launch Page - Banner Login (BERP) Link

  3. Click the Banner Login (BERP) link. The Logon dialog box displays.


  4. Note: If you get a "Page not found" error, the system may be unavailable. Contact the Help Desk (734.487.2120) to report this problem.

    Also, The first time you access Banner you may be asked to download and install a plug-in called Jinitiator by Oracle. When asked, trust Oracle and accept all the defaults. Once you have completed the screens, the plug-in will load on your machine. If you do not do this, you will not be able to access Banner.
  5. Type the username supplied to you by the Banner Security team in the Username field. The format for Banner username is FirstName_LastName.

  6. Type the password associated with the Banner username in the Password field.

  7. Click the Connect button.

    Note: If you get an "ORA-01017: Invalid username/password; login denied " error, you are likely typing your username or password incorrectly. If you continue to receive this error, you may not have a Banner username or may need to reset your Banner password. See Requesting a Banner Username and Password for more information.

    If you get a "ORA-12154: TNS could not resolve service name " error, you are typing something other than BERP in the Database field or you did not click the Banner Login (BERP) link in step 2.
  9. The Banner Main menu displays.
