It is STRONGLY recommended that all new Biology majors make an appointment with a departmental advisor. The advisor will help you determine which courses to take and in what sequence, to make sure that you satisfy your degree requirements as efficiently as possible. You should make an appointment as soon as possible, and schedule yearly appointments thereafter.

How to make an advising appointment

Note: For pre-med advising, go to the pre-med advising page.

For all other Biology advising , do the following:

  1. Visit the Biology Department Office in 316 Mark Jefferson or call us at 734-487-4242.
  2. Fill out an advising questionnaire.
  3. You will be assigned an advisor based on your interests. Alternatively, you can request a specific advisor. Faculty members and their advising areas are listed below.
  4. Schedule an appointment with your advisor by filling out the appointment book in the Biology office. Advisors have specific office hours for advising, and you must make your appointment at least 72 hours in advance.
  5. We suggest that you schedule future appointments with the same advisor.
