The Meta Hellwig Undergraduate Apprenticeship Award

Awards of $1000 each to support learning by working with individual faculty members. These awards are intended for broad-based learning activities. Applicants for non-research projects are encouraged to apply. Awards are for two semesters (Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer) and represent a commitment to engage in 140 hours of collaborative study with the sponsoring faculty member.

Eligibility: Biology or Elementary Science Majors.

Deadline: Feb. 15 prior to the term or year of the award. Applications are available in the Biology Office.

Selection Criteria: The main criterion will be the apparent value to the student of the learning experience. Along with the completed application form, the selection committee will require a letter from the sponsoring faculty member describing the variety of learning activities in which the student will be involved.

Expectations: All students receiving an award must submit a one-to-two page typewritten report summarizing their accomplishments during the award period. Reports should be turned in to the Scholarship Committee by the final day of the award period.
