Graduate Programs:
Ecology and Organismal Biology

Designed for those pursuing a research, consultation or administrative career in aquatic/wetland or terrestrial ecosystems, this option provides advanced study in ecology, limnology, entomology, botany, animal behavior and statistics. Successful graduates go on to Ph.D. programs or are employed in private/public sector positions. Students are given opportunities to perform original research with faculty mentors.

Program Details

Teaching and research facilities:

  • Greenhouse and aquatics facility
  • Three field stations
    • Loesell Field Station (22 acres, Ypsilanti)
    • Fish Lake Field Station (240 acres, Lapeer Co.)
    • Jean Nobel Parsons Center (86 acres, Benzie Co.)
  • State of the art analytical laboratory for environmental samples

Admission Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
  • Preliminary coursework in genetics, physiology, botany, zoology, chemistry (general, organic, or biochemistry), physics, calculus or statistics
  • GRE general exam
