Orientation & First Year

Fusion Orientation
A program designed for new EMU students to help show them the ins and outs of college life at Eastern Michigan University. The current students, faculty and staff want to welcome you and make your transition into college life at EMU as smooth as possible. During Fusion, you'll experience new people, places and programs that will become your life at EMU. You will learn about campus resources, academic support and student organizations.
MyFy
A website designed by students for students about what to expect from college, what college expects from you and how to stay ahead as a student at EMU and a student of Life.
First Year Mentor Program (FYMP)
Person-to-person support system between first-year and upperclass students. Mentors are happy to drop the inside scoop on college survival skills like finding a great place to study, how to meet new people, and juggling the academic and social parts of college.
Common Reading Experience
Bringing together the EMU community through one great book.
Real Beginnings
A place for first-year students, and first-year students only, to get their creative work put down in print.
I Want to Be an NSOA or Mentor
So now you'd like to get involved with our programs. There's no better way to jumpstart your year, make new friends and feel great about a volunteer experience than by being a New Student Orientation Assistant (NSOA) or First-Year Mentor. These are upperclass students who've been there and done that and are volunteering to spread their wealth of EMU knowledge to EMU's newest, our freshmen.
