Greek Life Inclusion Committee

The Greek Life Inclusion Committee at Eastern Michigan University was founded in 2016 as a response to dissatisfaction in the Greek community with members understanding and application of inclusion and diversity in Greek Life. The mission of GLIC was established at our first meeting last year, and is as follows:

  • As Greek Life attracts individuals with a variety of life experiences, those individuals also strengthen the values and missions of Greek organizations. GLIC intends to promote this idea through the value of individual identity within a Greek letter organization.
  • GLIC supports the validity and power found within the lived experience of all members of the EMU Greek community.
  • GLIC practices servant leadership, with the ultimate goal of increasing inclusivity in the Greek community and in turn, within the EMU community.

GLIC will be meeting monthly as a committee, but is comprised of sub-committees that will meet as needed to directly address issues of exclusivity in Greek life. Committee members will be thinking about activities Greek Life sponsors and the content of them in relation to living values and being inclusive. GLIC has rolling admissions and is always looking for new members!
