Homework hasn’t killed anyone, and it won’t kill you. Be proactive by not waiting until the last second. You’ll save yourself stress, and you’ll keep those fingernails nibble-free.
The Everyday Stuff
- Get it done, and get it done!
- Prioritize. Whatever is due first, do first. Whatever is worth the most, spend the most time on.
- Don’t wait until class to ask questions. If you’re having trouble with something, talk to instructors before it’s due.
- If you finish today’s work, start on tomorrow. You can never have too much done.
- Utilize small portions of your day to get readings and short assignments done.
Big Papers and Projects
- Do research early.
- Never tell yourself, "I’m fine, I’ll just do it tomorrow."
- Don’t procrastinate.
- If you’re having trouble (not enough on topic, can’t find topic) talk to your professor or advisor. Don’t wait on this.
- Proofread every paper before turning it in, and have someone else read/proofread your work.
- Back up all work on the computer. Save often. Use auto save.
- When you finish a big portion of the paper, print it out.
- Keep all copies of papers/exams until grades are released. Also, copies of old papers may be helpful for future research.
