What to do on Campus

CollegeLifeEMU's campus is filled with a ton of free and low-cost entertainment. You'll discover new friends and lots of entertainment through involvement and socializing at EMU.

  • Campus is stuffed with places where students hang-out, eat, and meet new people.
    • Visit the Campus Activities Calender for a full listing of great things going on all across EMU!
    • There are food options in the EMU Student Center, Pray-Harrold, Sill Hall, and the First Year Center between Walton-Puntam and Phelps-Sellers Resident Halls.
  • The Olds/Robb Student Recreation Center hosts recreational, work-out, and intramural activities including:
    • Yoga/Fitness Classes
    • Two Swimming Pools
    • Tennis Courts
    • Intramural Teams
    • Basketball/Volleyball/Handball Courts
    • Pool Tables
  • Performances from the Music and Dance Department, and EMU Theatre Department are open for students. Most are free, but check schedules for admission costs.
  • Eastern Michigan Students get into all EMU sporting events free of charge.
  • Excursions take you off campus, yes, but they’re an easy and affordable way to take your EMU friends with you.

  • Arts and Entertainment at EMU lets you see music artists, comedians, theatre and dance, and amazing speakers. Tickets are cheap for students, and some events are free.

Meet People

  • Sit near people, not alone in a corner.
  • If people are talking about something you’re interested in, join the conversation.
    • Are you talking about Survivor? I love that show.
    • Yeah, I’ve seen that movie. I loved when Tom Cruise…
  • Don’t do all the talking. Listen.
  • Listen and learn about them. Thinking ahead to what you want to say while someone is talking won’t help you make a new friend.
  • If you can’t think of anything to say, ask questions.

    • Do you live on campus or off campus?
