CAPS offers a variety of groups and workshops during the Fall and Winter Semesters.  Below you will find some descriptions of groups we have offered in the past. Please check back in September for information about Fall groups.

 

Mindful Being: Drop-In Meditation Group

This drop-in group is designed to help students learn the practice of mindfulness.  Mindfulness leads to decreases in stress and anxiety, improvements in concentration and attention, and increases in self-awareness and overall emotional well-being.  All levels of experience with meditation are welcome, even no experience at all! 

Understanding Self and Others

Learn about yourself and your relationships with others in a safe environment. Practice new ways to express your thoughts, feelings and build self-confidence. To attend this group, you must first attend an intake appointment.  Please call 734-487-1118 to schedule, and let the front desk know you are interested in this group. Coming Out/Being Out

This group is designed for students who identify as LGBTQAI or who are questioning their gender identity and/or sexual orientation to come together and discuss issues regarding the lifelong process of coming out, being out, sexuality, identity, and other topics. This year, we are transitioning COBO from a drop-in support group to a therapy group in which members attend a group screening, commit to membership in the group, and meet on a weekly basis. Feeling Better 101

Feeling Better 101 is a three-part workshop for EMU students offered by EMU Counseling and Psychological Services. The workshop is designed to teach skills to help you cope with stress and improve your mood.  Please call CAPS for more information.
