CAPS offers a variety of groups and workshops during the Fall and Winter Semesters.  In the Winter Semester of 2018 we will be offering the following groups.  Please contact the clinic for start dates and to see if you need to schedule an appointment for an intake before beginning group.


 

Write to Reflect

Thursdays from 4-5pm. Starting January 18. 313 Snow Health Center

Explore personal experiences, express your emotions, and develop deeper insight through creative and reflective writing prompts. Each week offers time to write and reflect. Bring pen and paper. Co-facilitated by Lauren Proux, LLMSW, and Melina Tumpkin, BS. Contact lproux@emich.edu for more information.

Understanding Self and Others

Fridays from 1:00-2:30pm. Start date to be determined.  Pre-screening is required for entry into this group.

Learn about yourself and your relationships with others in a safe environment. Practice new ways to express your thoughts, feelings and build self-confidence. To attend this group, you must first attend an intake appointment.  Please call 734-487-1118 to schedule, and let the front desk know you are interested in this group. Coming Out/Being Out

Start date and time to be determined. Pre-screening is required for entry into this group.

This group is designed for students who identify as LGBTQAI or who are questioning their gender identity and/or sexual orientation to come together and discuss issues regarding the lifelong process of coming out, being out, sexuality, identity, and other topics. This year, we are transitioning COBO from a drop-in support group to a therapy group in which members attend a group screening, commit to membership in the group, and meet on a weekly basis. Feeling Better 101

Fridays January 26, Feb 2, and Feb 9. 11am-12:30pm. 313 Snow Health Center

Feeling Better 101 is a three-part workshop for EMU students offered by EMU Counseling and Psychological Services. The workshop is designed to teach skills to help you cope with stress and improve your mood.  Please call CAPS for more information.
