About this Program

The goal of this program is to assist those with an undergraduate degree in a construction related area (e.g. Construction Management, Architecture, and Engineering) to update their skills in the emerging, critical area of sustainability in construction and design. This will help these current construction professionals develop new career options in the construction industry. The program provides the adult learner with the knowledge base for understanding the management processes of the construction industry related to sustainability, including the initiating, planning, execution, control and close-out of “green” construction projects.

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Construction program is intended for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in a construction related field who wish to update and improve their knowledge and skills on the “cutting edge” topics related to sustainable construction. Examples of interested adult learners include a) those with experience in the construction and design fields that are in career transition, b) current professionals working in the construction or design who wish to update their knowledge and experiences and obtain the associated continuing education units, and c) future professionals who need the sustainable construction knowledge to augment their design-based undergraduate degree for improved job prospects.
