Dr. Joseph Pollack is the Director of Eastern Michigan
University’s
Charter Schools Office. Dr. Pollack has been in this position since
1995.
Dr. Pollack’s educational background includes a B.A. degree in English-History
from Wayne State University (WSU). Joseph also earned a Master of
Arts degree from WSU in English and education. He received his Doctorate
in education from the University of Michigan.
Joseph has an extensive background
in the field of education. His various positions have ranged from teacher
to principal to superintendent. Most of Dr. Pollack’s career
has been spent in Michigan public schools, providing him with a wealth
of knowledge about the issues facing students in this state. Dr. Pollack
believes that charter schools represent one option for inspiring innovation
in educating public school students in Michigan.
Dr. Pollack established
the Charter Schools Office at EMU, chartering a total of eight schools.
He provides our charter school leaders and boards with substantial
guidance and consultation in the areas of student achievement and organizational
development. Joseph resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife.
