About the College
College History Marshall

As a response to the growing need for health and other service professionals, Eastern Michigan University established the College of Human Services in 1975.

Programs included in the original college included home economics, nursing, medical technology, and occupational therapy. In order to reflect the total content and disciplinary interests within the college, the name was changed to the College of Health and Human Services on April 21, 1982.

Since 1975, the college has undergone a significant amount of growth. Three years ago, the college underwent restructuring, leading to the addition of many new programs. In addition, the college was the first on campus to have departments be designated as professional schools.

Our award-winning faculty and dedicated students make the College of Health and Human Services an excellent choice to further your professional and personal goals.
