About the College
College History
As a response to the growing need for health and other service professionals, Eastern Michigan University established the College of Human Services in 1975.
Programs included in the original college included home economics, nursing, medical technology, and occupational therapy. In order to reflect the total content and disciplinary interests within the college, the name was changed to the College of Health and Human Services on April 21, 1982.
Since 1975, the college has undergone
a significant
amount
of growth.
Three
years
ago, the
college
underwent
restructuring,
leading
to the
addition
of many
new programs.
In addition,
the college
was the
first
on campus
to have departments
be designated
as professional
schools.
