Human Subjects Information
All research, involving human subjects, which is to be conducted by faculty or students from Eastern Michigan University must be approved by the appropriate review committee. The purpose of this review is to ensure that the activity is conducted with the safety of the human subject as its highest priority. If the research is conducted by a faculty or staff member or a Doctoral Student, the Graduate School Human Subjects Review Committee administers the review process. Please see the following website for further information.
If the research is conducted by an undergraduate or masters level student within the College of Health and Human Services, the review process is administered by the CHHS Human Subjects Review Committee. This committee is composed of elected members from each School within the College. The committee will respond to each proposal within two weeks following its review. If the Committee determines a submission involves vulnerable populations or greater than minimal risk, the proposal will be forwarded to the University Human Subjects Committee.
All submissions must be in digital form using the Digital Commons System. The submission must be approved with signature from the student's supervising faculty member. Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis.
A member of the CHHS Human Subjects Review Committee can arrange to come to one of your classes to explain the process if you feel that it is appropriate.
