Criteria for each scholarship is listed below by major.  The application process varies somewhat by program. 

Please contact the School in which your program is housed for detailed information and application deadlines.

 

Scholarship Name

 

John & Dorothy Glush Scholarship

  • Criteria:
    This scholarship is to provide tuition support to incoming freshman who plans to study Nursing, Social Work and any other area of the Health Services.

    1. Preference will be given to students pursuing a Nursing degree
    2. Recipient must be a resident of southeast Michigan
    3. Preference will be given to a graduate of Cass Tech High School
    4. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Wade McCree Blue Care Network Scholarship

 

  • 3.0 high school GPA and 2.5 EMU GPA Average
  • Students must come from the Detroit Public Schools or other urban public school system
  • All the rest of the criteria would fall under the Wade McCree criteria.

Non-Scholarship criteria

  • For the benefit of the College of Health and Human Services - the program in gerontology and dementia or any subsequent name the University may designate for the area or outgrowths of this area. This endowment will help improve the quality of life for persons with dementia by providing funds to support group activities, music therapy, and other cultural art therapies for dementia patients.  

Scholarship Criteria

  • College of Health and Human Services gerontology student who is coordinating such activities or a cultural arts student who is providing a therapy such as music therapy.
  • The need will be determined annually by the program director in conjunction with the Dean.
Grzadzinski, Helen A.

 

  • To provide scholarship support for students who are in the Graduate Certificate for Dementia Care Program. 
  • Preference should be given to graduate students with a Nursing degree.
  • Must have a 2.75 GPA
  • Can apply for fall and winter until certificate completion
  • Preference also to students who are from Southeast MI
  • Scholarship can be renewed until completion of Certificate as long as all other criteria are met

  • Student specializing in dementia care
  • Patience, compassion and an appreciation in the roles of music and spiritualism should be considered (as evidenced by candidate's interactions with dementia clients)
  • To the extent possible, preference given to males, minorities and younger students
