Mr. Guerra joined Eastern Michigan University in October 2012 as Associate Professor. He is a physician assistant with 27 years of clinical practice experience in family medicine, urgent care and cardiac surgery. He is a 1985 graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy Physician Assistant Program and has been a clinical preceptor and clinical medicine guest lecturer for 25 years.
He previously held an appointment as Assistant Professor in the University of Toledo Department of Physician Assistant Studies from 2001-2007. He has maintained a clinical appointment in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Michigan where he collaboratively performed new patient consultations in the mitral valve clinic from 2009-2012. He continues to work in family medicine for the Detroit Medical Center.

Evaluating the impact of modifiable lifestyle variables (exercise, BMI and body fat, nutritional, occupational stress, etc.) on the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease.
