Dr. Vandenberg joined Eastern Michigan University in early October 2012 as Medical Director. He is a physician with 25 years of clinical practice experience working in hospital and internal medicine and is a 1987 graduate of Wayne State University Medical School. He is currently the Medical Director of Clinical Outcomes Management at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Vandenberg previously held the position of Chief of Staff and Medical Director at Select Specialty Hospital in Ann Arbor and during that time served as a member of the National Physician Advisory Board. He has also held the position of Associate Director of the Hospital Based Physician Program (among others) at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Further, he has worked with physician assistants (PAs) for over 20 years and has been formally involved with the education of PA students from multiple PA Programs in Michigan.
His research interests include: clinical quality and outcomes related to acute hospital care and care transitions.
