Services

The Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) supplies a variety of nutrition and health services that empower you to accomplish your goals and lead a healthful lifestyle. Our services include:

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)

  • This test is a fast and effective electronic assessment that measures body fat percentage, lean body mass, and total body water.

  • To ensure the most accurate test possible please refrain from:

    • Eating within 4 hours prior to testing.

    • Consuming coffee or other caffeinated beverages on test day.

    • Intensive exercise within 2 hours of testing.

    • Alcohol consumption within 24 hours of testing.

    • Wearing pantyhose.

    • Wearing any clothing, jewelry, or accessories that contain metal.

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA Scan)

  • The DEXA scan is considered to be the "Gold Standard" in body composition testing and provides the most accurate results possible to date.  This test only takes about 10 minutes to perform and provides information such as bone mineral density, body fat percentage, and lean body mass.  The test provides detailed information for individual sections and extremities of the body for comparison.

  • To ensure the most accurate test possible please refrain from wearing any clothing, jewelry or accessories that contain metal.  We recommend wearing what you would wear to the gym.

Individual Nutrition Counseling

  • This service is great for those who have unanswered questions about health and nutrition, are trying to reach a health goal, or would simply like reliable nutrition education that applies to individual lifestyles.

  • Private nutrition counseling sessions are provided by dietetic students and the Registered Dietitian (RD) on staff and last one hour in duration for the initial consultation and 30 minutes for follow-up appointments.
  • Individual education topics include but are NOT limited to:

    • Weight management

    • Healthy eating habits

    • Sports and fitness nutrition

  • To maximize the time and effectiveness of your counseling session please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete a brief set of paperwork. Or click here to download the document and bring the completed paperwork to your next visit!

Three-Day Nutrient Analysis & Food Diary

  • This service is great for those wondering if they're eating the correct amount of calories.  It also provides information regarding how much protein, fat, and carbohydrates one consumes along with vitamin and mineral totals.

  • In preparation for your Nutrient Analysis please:

    • Complete a three-day food diary given to you by an ONS staff member or download the template by clicking here.   (Note: 2 week days and 1 weekend day is best)

    • Be as specific and as accurate as possible.
