Professional Summary

Dr. Farley’s research centers on the mental health needs and treatment interventions for at-risk young children, parents and their families. Specific interests include the assessment of parent-child interactions and family relationships, parent knowledge and competence, symbolic play, emotion regulation and the influence of the clinical relationship on parental stress and wellbeing. Currently, Dr. Farley is working on a funded study with a community mental health early childhood program focused on identifying specific tenants of the clinician-parent relationship and its impact on child and parent treatment outcomes. Prior to academia, Dr. Farley was a clinician serving children and families in Western-Wayne County for eleven years.
