The Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Accountability serves as the umbrella to the following offices, initiatives, and programs:
- Academic Assessment
- Student Learning Outcomes Assessment
- Specialized Accreditation
- Academic Review
- Institutional Research & Information Management
- Institutional Accreditation - (Higher Learning Commission & AQIP)

Mission
The mission of the office is to provide outstanding leadership and to foster a culture of continuous improvement through evidence-based planning and decision-making at Eastern Michigan University.
Integral to this mission is the alignment of accreditation, assessment, planning, and institutional research to ensure a cohesive approach to providing assistance to all University units in developing action plans and assessment processes.
Services
The services provided by the OIEA include:
- SUPPORT - Campus-wide CI efforts; provide financial, educational, and technical resources for continuous (quality) improvement; support CI leadership.
- COORDINATE & MANAGE - Unit level CI Councils, data storage, HLC & AQIP/institutional accreditation, Academic Assessment - assessment of student learning, Academic Review, and specialized accreditation.
- CONNECT & COMMUNICATE - Build linkages between institutional planning processes and Higher Learning Commission; initiate campus-wide CI opportunities and initiatives; communicate formal and informal University CI efforts to the campus community; communicate continuous improvement efforts through consistent communication mechanisms (print, face-to-face and electronic)
