AQIP Action Projects

What is an AQIP Action Project?

An Action Project is an activity that makes use of continuous improvement tools to solve an identified problem or address an area of concern. University continuous improvement projects must be identified as AQIP Action Projects in order to maintain EMU’s accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. Additionally, the Higher Learning Commission requires that at least one of a university’s action projects address the AQIP category of, “Helping Students Learn”. The remaining projects may address any of the other eight AQIP categories noted below:

  1. Helping Students Learn
  2. Accomplishing Other Distinctive Objectives
  3. Understanding Students’ and Other Stakeholders’ Needs
  4. Valuing People
  5. Leading and Community
  6. Supporting Institutional Operations
  7. Measuring Effectiveness
  8. Planning Continuous Improvement
  9. Building Collaborative Relationships

The work carried out in the process of completing Action Projects and the methods in which the work is recorded and documented will serve as important components of EMU’s accreditation. New Action Projects will be carefully chosen through a substantial process of discussion and revision.
