Quality Check Up & Quality Summary

What is a Quality Check Up?

During the seven-year cycle leading up to Reaffirmation of Accreditation, AQIP requires a site visit to each institution conducted by two or more trained evaluators who will spend at least two days on campus. The team prepares for the visit by reviewing relevant organizational and AQIP file materials. Quality Checkup visits occur in the two-year period before an organization’s scheduled Reaffirmation of Accreditation. The Quality Checkup team produces a written report summarizing its findings, identifying those areas the team has verified and/or clarified, and addressing the institution’s compliance with the Criteria for Accreditation, noting any areas that require additional clarification before Reaffirmation of Accreditation. –Higher Learning Commission, Introduction to AQIP

In March 2010, EMU hosted a Quality Checkup, in which two reviewers from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) visited the campus.  Their purpose two-fold:

• To learn more about our continuous improvement work.
• To help us set priorities and identify strategies for our next steps in continuous improvement.

In preparation for the visit, EMU prepared a Federal Compliance Packet and a Quality Program Summary. In April 2010,EMU received the site a Quality Checkup Report from our HLC reviewers.
