The Senate is composed of 30 seats filled by students that represent the Student Body. It sponsors several services for Students and Organizations, and advocates for issues of particular interest to the campus. Members of the Student Senate work hard to accomplish the focused goals the Student Senate has set forth in such areas as legal services, campus recycling,campus safty, shared governance, and state legislative issues relating to university funding.

 Larisa Simington, guest piano recital
 Location: Alexander Recital Hall
 Description: Guest artist Larisa Simington will perform four piano sonatas by Scarlatti (C Major, D Minor, D major, and A Minor), Schubert’ s Sonata in A Minor, Prokoviev’s Sonata in C Major, and four selections by Franz Liszt. Larisa holds a doctorate in piano performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, New York. She received her master’s in music from the University of Toronto. Dr. Simington is currently on the faculty of Concordia University.

Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he comes under the leadership of Kung Fu guru Shifu and trains to hilarious result. Po must use his training to fight the treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung in this animated adventure.

 Description: Campus Life and Diversity and Community Involvement present Emmy Award-winning television journalist Ed Gordon as distinguished speaker in honor or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day celebration. Gordon has hosted interviews with today’s top newsmakers and celebrities including names such as; O.J. Simpson, Janet Jackson, R.  Global Perspectives in the Business of Healthcare
 Location: Downing Hall Main Floor Lounge
 Description: EMU Honors College Star Lecture Series

Presented by Diana Wong, PhD

This presentation will look at the evolving dynamics of how healthcare is managed from different places around the world and its impact on the different global communities. Both multinational and government initiatives with brief case studies will illustrate different models in managing healthcare. Some of the intriguing trends include medical tourism, single payer systems, foreign aid in healthcare, global healthcare initiatives in NGOs, and innovations in managing healthcare.

Dr. Wong’s areas of research interests include strategic alliances, merger and acquisition integration, learning and technological innovations, and international management of global strategies. She chaired the planning committee for developing and implementing the International Cultural Competence Institute for faculty and staff at Eastern Michigan University. In addition to committee work at different levels of the university, she consults with executive managers who focus on strategic change for leading organizations. Dr. Wong's professional involvement includes the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, Strategic Management Society, North American Case Research Association, Eastern Academy of Management, Southern Academy of Management, and the Caribbean Studies Association.

 Robert Satterlee, guest piano recital
 Location: Alexander Recital Hall
 Description: Pianist Robert Satterlee has developed a reputation as an accomplished and versatile solo recitalist and chamber musician. He plays regularly throughout the United States, delighting audiences with his incisive and imaginative performances. This evening’s performance includes Mozart’s Sonata in F Major, Riverwing by Tom Flaherty, Sonata in B Minor by Liszt, and three selections by Gabriel Faurée: Barcarolle No. 9, Nocturne No. 8, and Impromptu No. 5. Satterlee was appointed in the fall of 1998 to the piano faculty of Bowling Green State University in Ohio, having previously held teaching positions in Illinois, Missouri, California and Connecticut. He teaches at the Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer: Robert Satterlee, guest piano recital.

 Eric Lamb, guest flute recital
 Location: Alexander Recital Hall
 Description: Belonging to a new generation of young international soloists, flutist Eric Lamb is making a name for himself as an artists who defies definition. He is a soloist, orchestral musician, passionate chamber musician and much sought after lecturer and teacher. Lamb is known for dynamic performances of works of the avant-garde and riveting interpretations of the classical and baroque repertoire. Eric holds degrees and diplomas from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Frankfurt am Main, and the Sculoa di Musica di Fiesole. His teachers include Michel Debost, Thaddeus Watson and Chiara Tonelli.
