Biography

"I hope to inspire in my students the understanding that learning is not confined just to the classroom.  We are all always learning.  My goal is to show my students that everything we learn, however inconsequential, helps us deal with the next challenge we face.  Education is a forever process." Brian is no stranger to EMU Theatre.  In 2005, he was awarded the EMU Artistic Recognition Award for his design of Biloxi Blues during EMU's 2004-05 season.  Since then, Brian earned an MFA from Wayne State University's illustrious Hilberry Repertory Theatre program specializing in Theatrical Lighting Design.  Some of his more memorable works include Frank Langella's Cyrano, Othello, Major Barbara, and Bat Boy: The Musical.  He has worked for many professional theatres in the greater Detroit area including the Detroit Repertory Theatre, the Elizabeth Theatre, the Blackbird Theatre, and the Michigan Shakespeare Festival to name a few.   In 2012, Brian was awarded a Wilde Award for his lighting design of The Winter's Tale for the Michigan Shakespeare Festival's 2011 season.
