Theatre Scholarships and Service Awards

Current EMU students can apply for Theatre endowed scholarships and CMTA Excellence Awards by visiting 103 Quirk and completing an application. Active participants in EMU Theatre will receive first priority in consideration for awards.

Incoming Freshmen/Transfers

EMU Theatre holds bi-annual auditions for incoming students interested in applying for endowed scholarships and CMTA Excellence Awards.

These auditions provide the opportunity to be considered for up to $1500 per academic year.

Next Audition Date for Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students:
April 13, 2013, Quirk Theatre Building

Registration/Check-in: 3:30pm
Warm-ups: 3:45 - 4pm
Auditions: 4pm until completed

Attendance at the EMU Theatre production of Wedding Band... is optional
(Show begins at 7pm and running time is approximately 2 hours, plus a 15-minute intermission.)

What do I need to prepare?

  • Download the Registration Packet here (.PDF)
  • Auditionees should prepare 2 contrasting monologues (i.e. classical/modern or comic/serious) not exceeding 90 seconds each (3 minutes total)
  • Students intending to do a singing audition should add a minute on to their total time and prepare 16 bars or one verse from a musical selection.
  • Technical presentations:
    Tables will be made available for the display of photos, drawings, renderings, models, costumes, etc. that demonstrate a student’s skills in the technical, design and publicity areas. Following a review of display items will be a question and answer session with the adjudicators
  • Fill out registration materials and return to 103 Quirk by April 5, 2013. If you have any questions regarding your registration status, you may call us at 734.487.1220
