The College of Business Distinguished Lecture Series will kick-off on Wednesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. in the College of Business Room 201 with Edward L. Monser speaking about “Leadership of the New Digital Workforce."

This spring’s speaker is President of Emerson, a company that focuses on two core business platforms – Automation Solutions and Commercial and Residential Solutions. Monser received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, but is also an Eastern Michigan University alumnus. Monser started his career as a senior engineer at Rosemount in 1981 and has worked his way through Emerson becoming President in 2015.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is designed to bring high profile business professionals to the University to share their insights with today's business students. The lecture will allow students the opportunity to ask questions and learn from an expert in the industry.

"We are delighted to launch our Distinguished Lecture series in the College of Business with an EMU alumnus. Monser is a leader in industry as well as an expert in international relations.  As President of Emerson Electric Company in St. Louis, he oversees a Fortune 500 company and has substantial experience with US-China business policy and trade.  Our students will be treated to a timely discussion on successful leadership in a global economy," says Anne L. Balazs, Interim Dean of the College of Business.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is dedicated to bringing professionals from around the country to speak with students on critical business issues, their personal business journeys and how to be successful in the business world.
