Sean Graham (MS '14)

Recent accounting graduate, Sean Graham wants to improve the doctor-to-patient relationship. The resident from Commerce, Michigan graduated in April and envisions improved communication between doctors and patients by use of a mobile application that utilizes smartphone technology, similar to how "Doctors on Demand" utilizes video technology but with a few modifications and improvements. Working with his brother and sister they plan to develop this free app, and his preliminary customer feedback tells him doctors want this service. There are barriers including insurance, privacy (HIPPA) and technological challenges but Sean thinks these issues can be resolved and the next phase is more customer discovery. Finding out if doctors and patients want and will use this service and how it can benefit them will determine if the product is viable for market and how he will monetize the service. The process might take some time as Sean already has a job lined up at an accounting firm in Southfield starting in the fall.

In the meantime he will continue to develop his idea and seek guidance and he is looking to form a technology start-up with members of his family developing other mobile devices. "Working full time and working on projects is what most entrepreneurs go through," said Sean. "We have so many great ideas we need to start a company to get them prioritized." With an investor to fund his start-up showing serious interest, Sean will be busy going forward.
